FLOOD INSURANCE
The City of Quitman participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). As a result of this participation, homeowners within the city limits are eligible for flood insurance at a highly subsidized rate. If you are IN a designated flood zone, your mortgage lender will likely require flood insurances. If you ARE NOT IN a designated flood zone, flood insurance called "preferred risk" is even less costly and could provide protection in a catastrophic loss.
Please see the Digital Flood Insurance Map to determine if your property is located in a designated flood zone.
Please see the Flood Insurance Study for more information on flood zones generally.
Please see the City of Quitman's Flood Damage Prevention Regulations Ordinance for more information of regulations on development to prevent flood damage.
Please visit the FEMA Flood Smart Page for more information on flood prevention and insurance.
