Hello and welcome to the City of Quitman’s website, and more importantly, our town. We are known as the home of Sissy Spacek and close neighbor to world-renowned Black Bass record holder, Lake Fork.
Quitman is the county seat for Wood County located 90 miles east of Dallas between I-20 to the south and I-30 to the north. We are a rural county with beautiful lakes and trees that offers a quiet atmosphere. Our city offers a beautiful hospital which is part of UT Health East Texas, excellent schools, churches, and quality of life. The City Government is efficient, effective, and financially sound. We have an active and capable economic development corporation board who would be happy to meet with you if you are considering moving or starting a business here.
One of the greatest things about Quitman, and what I love most, are the people. I am constantly amazed at how people from all over our great country find their way to our beautiful small town. I am happy my family had the opportunity to move to Quitman in 1986 and am proud to serve as Mayor.
